NW 200 2013

I have been pleased to read about a few friends from UK making plans and bookings to travel over to Northern Ireland for the NW 200 in May 2013. I hope you have a great visit and enjoy the racing and all that our wee country has to offer.

I expect to be zone marshal on the circuit for practice and race days and would be keen to recruit some good folk to the team. The zone is situated on the very fast run down hill towards Metropole. You don’t need to have any experience, you wont be on your own and will be properly briefed before and during the sessions. If you would like to join me for even one day, please feel free to get in touch. You could also have a look at the NW 200 2013 Volunteers page on the website for info on other positions that are available http://www.northwest200.org/volunteers.aspx

I would like to stay up on the north coast for most of race week, but this is dependent on getting the time off work and also finding somewhere to stay. If I do manage to get the time off then accommodation will be the next challenge. I live in Carrickfergus, which is about 50 miles from Portrush, so at a push I can ride or drive up and down each day. But this obviously takes up time and fuel. I have checked out some accommodation still available and found a few suitable properties costing £500 for race week. They generally sleep 6. Is there anyone who would like to join me and share the cost? If I were to get 6 folk paying equal shares, the rent becomes a very viable proposition. These properties wont be available for too long so we would have to make a move on the very shortly. Let me know if you are interested.
