Having worked six shifts back to back I was fortunate enough to get Sunday off and decided to ride down to Killalane Road Races in Fingal. I was joined by Nicola and William and we met in Carrickfergus at 6am! We filled up the bikes and started the journey south although we only got to Lisburn when we had our first stop. McMuffin and coffee 🙂
The weather for practice the day before had been pretty awful so we were glad that it had dried up a bit. However there was still a threat of rain and it was definitely colder than recent weeks. We stopped again for a warm up at Castlebellingham and met a couple of flagmen heading racing also. Our ride took us through Balbriggan and down the coast to Skerries where we turned inland to the circuit. I had never been racing at the Killalane track but was aware that they shared the paddock with the Skerries road race so I knew where to go.
With only a short time before roads closing we parked the bikes up. We decided to watch the racing from the start finish. Strange that with all the races I have been to I had never viewed or marshalled from the start line. We had a great view immediately opposite the starter flag.
All results of the day`s racing can be found here http://www.realroadracing.com/reports/2013/26_Killalane/results/results.php
We had a great day and would recommend a visit next year.
